Only half of a project this week for KAPOW. This is the bottom half of a piano stool. The top half—the seat part—will be complete soon…..



The intention with this stool was to use the wood bits from this derelict old banker’s chair (picture below). The old chair’s base mechanism had too many broken and missing pieces to make repairs worthwhile. It really was not all that well constructed.

The new stool uses the legs from the base of the old chair (turned vertical). I will use more bits for the sitting part of the stool. For the cylinder/stem of the stool, I used some scrap oak—glued together and turned on the lathe. Then I carved some dados for the leg pieces. See some pictures below.
