A couple of potential KAPOW projects didn’t get finished this week….so an interesting photo showing the grandeur of the rocky tidal flats along the Pacific Ocean in Olympic National Park.

A snapshot of a campsite, or something more? The dramatic light and sunset over the beach /ocean juxtaposed with the tranquil campsite setting all come together to tell a story–the story of a great campsite.

Another in the ‘ent’ series. A digitally painted lion-ish creature (well, not really lion-ish….) bursting forth from a downed tree on Rialto Beach.

Compare the painting with the original photo below:

Folding Table Top

KAPOW = Kevin’s Art Project of the Week

Several weeks ago I built a fold-up camp table. The table design is based on a fold-up table that my father builds. The design is great, small, and super useful at camp. I have one of my father’s table (picture below) and built this one.

As mentioned above, I built the table a couple of weeks ago. I put a thick coat of epoxy resin on the top I made….and it was kind of a disaster. So, this week for the KAPOW, I built this new top of out strips of varying woods. It came out looking nice.

Rethinking the design of the table top, I would put a thin strip of wood running 90 degrees to the strips along the edge that makes the seam of the table top. I think it would look nicer and also be a stronger joint to keep the table top together better longer.
